About SCC

The Spenard Community Council (SCC) is one of 38 councilsin Anchorage serving as the local governing body for theSpenard neighborhood.

Councilmembers are working to promote healthycommunity activities. Centered on Fish Creek, members are working to daylight the creek and celebrateits current connections like the newly repaved trail, and has hosted community events like Fish Creek Festivals and Trick or Treat Fish Creek. The SCC has worked to take a more proactive role inneighborhood design and permitting, as seen with upcoming pedestrian upgrades on Lois Drive and trailand connectivity updates to Ure Park.

The council also is navigating a changing business environment with an influx of cannabis establishments. The SCC has entered into a series of “Neighborhood Responsibility Plans” with cannabis and alcohol establishments as new permits are move forward to open lines of communication with theentities and the council.
