Welcome to the Northeast Community Council
The Northeast Community Council meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month, 7 PM, at the Muldoon Community Center. Board meetings take place on the 1st Thursday of each month (same time and place). Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 18th. Our Proposed agenda for upcoming meetings can be found under "Agenda" in the menu to the left or by clicking here to go right to the folder.
Centennial Park Gathering Saturday March 13th.
The Municipality has proposed a land trade that would result in Centennial Park being greatly reduced in size. The sledding hills and the camper park would be taken for power plant expansion in return for some land now included in the proposed "Muldoon Park Strip" (Old Green House Property near Debarr and Muldoon). The NECC has rejected this plan in the our February 2010 meeting (see minutes). The NECC wants both parks in their entirety. Below is a picture of our gathering from Saturday March 13; we were there to show our support for keeping Centennial Park's current boundaries.

Save Centennial Park

Sledding Hill at Centennial Park Proposed area to be taken by Power Plant
Northeast Community Council Elections will take place this upcoming April Board meeting. If anyone is interested please come to the next Council meeting on Thursday, Marach 18th to be nominated. We have three seats up for re-election.
"Muldoon Park Strip" and Centennial Park are two important Parks to Northeast Anchroage. There is a plan to take 1/3rd of Centennial Park to create "Muldoon Park Strip." Centennial Park would be losing the sledding hill and the camp grounds. Back in November the council had a gathering where "Muldoon Park Strip" would be located. Here is a news article in regards to this gathering http://www.adn.com/2009/11/20/1022111/east-side-residents-oppose-creek.html.
There are many important events happening soon for the public to be involved with making a difference. On the left hand side under committees please view the different events for Title 21, Parks, CIP and Alcohol that are coming soon.
